Our Team

Shelly E. Wilson, DVM & Owner

"I can't remember ever not wanting to be a veterinarian! My wonderful Uncle George said racehorse jockey was my first choice, but after advising me I might grow too tall, I chose animal doctor!" Of course, when Dr. Wilson established her own practice here in Ventura  in 1995, she named it The Animal Doctor!

Dr. Wilson is one of the few veterinarians in our area to treat bunnies & pocket pets, as well as dogs, cats, puppies, & kittens! "I feel so lucky to have a career that I love. My patients bring unique & special relationships  to our lives, & sharing them with their people is the best!"

Dr. Wilson's passion is competitive horse jumping! You'll also find her at Mammoth skiing, or on a lake wake-boarding just to keep things interesting!

Dr. Steffani Klittich, DVM

Dr. Klittich (AKA Dr. K) was born and raised in Orange County, CA. She decided to become a veterinarian at the ripe old age of four years old. She has worked in the veterinary industry since high school, starting as a kennel assistant and working her way through every job in the hospital. She attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she earned a B.S. degree in Animal Science and then obtained her veterinary degree from U.C. Davis.  As a veterinarian Dr. K’s interests include wellness care, oral health care, general surgery and even food animal medicine. In her free time Dr. K likes to stay active and spend time with her husband, young son, two cats and their German Shepard.

Trisha, Patient Care Supervisor

Trisha has been a part of The Animal Doctor family since 2004. As Lead Veterinary Assistant, Trisha is responsible for the overall nursing care of our patients, as well as providing direction and mentorship to our dedicated patient care team. Her mantra is: "Patient care comes first." Trisha has exemplary veterinary knowledge and skills and successfully completed an 8 month rotation at a specialty hospital in Nevada to further refine her surgical & nursing skills.

Trisha is crazy about her daughter, chihuahuas and bunnies. She has so many pets that even her family is surprised by who they might find cruising down the hallway..."Was that a chicken that just walked by?" In fact, it was.

Michaela, Client Care Supervisor

Michaela first started with our practice when she was in high school as a kennel attendant & veterinary assistant aide! After leaving us for a few years to pursue a college degree in Agriculture Science & Environmental Horticulture (she was ranked third in the nation at the National Flower Judging Competition & led her team to a first place!) & then marry her high school sweetheart, she returned & whipped us all into shape! Her special relationships with our clients and their pets, & her genuine concern for them really shows!

Michaela also enjoys spending time with her beautiful children & family. A huge arts & crafts enthusiast, she is also an aspiring pastry chef (we are grateful taste-testers!), & collector of Disney pins!

Stacy enjoys bike riding, restoring old bicycles, spending time with her girlfriend, and having long philosophical discussions with her Amazon parrot named "Zack."

She is so compassionate with all her patients and eager to learn everything she can about veterinary medicine. When Gaby is not at the hospital caring for her furry friends she cares for her one eyed terrier son “Snoopy” seen in her photo.

Any chance Gaby can get she loves to travel especially back to her first home of Mexico where her family has a ranch. Gaby also enjoys spending time with her family and friends, horseback riding, playing the guitar, accordion, drums, tuba or pretty much what ever instrument she can get her hands on.

In her free time Alicia loves dancing and especially enjoys hip hop and contemporary styles.  She also likes to attend rock concerts particularly at the Santa Barbara bowl.

Carrie, Receptionist

Carrie came all the way from Southern Maryland to join The Animal Doctor team.  She comes to us with 14 years of veterinary front office experience.  Carrie has an infectious smile and is passionate to help clients and their furry family members.

Growing up on the Chesapeake Bay Carrie certainly knows what good Maryland Blue Crab is, and though she will miss this tasty treat, she looks forward to finding out what the west coast can offer.  Carrie loves to travel and can’t wait to start exploring all of our great California landmarks. Carrie also loves the outdoors and being on the water having fun with friends.
